Honduran Hearts

Hearts for Honduras was born out of the need to help many families who had lost their homes after the devastating hurricane Mitch on 31october 1998. Pastor Alex Merlo, moved by the tragedy that destroyed a large part of the Central American country, organized the project and invited three friends to accompany him and build three houses near the city of San Pedro Sula.  In the month of June of the year of 1999 It was possible to carry out the first constructions with the fellowship and logistical support of the First Evangelical and Reformed Church of San Pedro Sula and the leadership of Pastor Daniel Romero.

This ministry of love and compassion has been very blessed through the years and following in obedience to the Word of God that says:

35 Because I was hungry, and you fed me; I was thirsty, and they gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and they welcomed me; 36 I was naked, and they covered me; I was sick, and they visited me; I was in jail, and they came to visit me.” Matthew 25: 35 – 36

In the early years our ministry focused on building homes for families. In recent years "Hearts for Honduras" has focused on building schools for primary education in communities of extreme need.  We believe that education is the best tool for children to have better opportunities and thus achieve their academic dreams and achieve a better life for the good of themselves and their country. During the nine days of our stay in Honduras, we invested our time in three different activities: Construction, Health, Christian Education for children and adults.

Due to the COVID-pandemic 19 we have suspended our mission trips for the time being. Our desire is to return to Honduras and continue with our projects of love in the name of Christ. We hope that by June 2022 May this dream be possible. If you contemplate participating in one of our future trips, you can visit our website  o by filling out the form below so we will keep you informed.
